Vivobarefoot was founded in 2012 by Galahad and Asher Clark, seventh-generation shoemakers from the Clark family (yes, that Clarks). They broke away from the family business to build shoes based on a simple idea: the human foot works best when it can feel the ground.

Philosophy

Vivobarefoot makes shoes with the thinnest soles they can get away with while still protecting feet from sharp objects. Their signature is a patented puncture-resistant sole that's just 3-6mm thick. Every shoe is wide, flat, and flexible — designed to let the foot move as if barefoot.

The brand leans heavily into sustainability, using recycled materials, bio-based plastics, and a regenerative supply chain. Their "Livebarefoot" ethos extends beyond shoes into foot health education and movement coaching.
